Second Harvest of South Georgia, Inc. (“SHSGA”) is accepting Sealed Bids from qualified food vendors for Food Procurement for our Kids Cafe Program (“KCP”). Items to be bid on are for milk items. The contract period will begin on October 15, 2016 and end on September 30, 2017. Sealed bids will be received no later than 10:00 am EST, Thursday, October 13, 2016, and delivered to Emily Broome-Garrison, Chief Financial Officer, SHSGA, 1411 Harbin Circle, Valdosta, Georgia 31601 at which time they will be opened and publicly read aloud at 10:15 am EST. Bids received after the above date and time or in any other location other than the Office of the Chief Financial Officer will not be considered.
A pre-bid meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at 2:00 pm EST at 1411 Harbin Circle, Valdosta, GA 31601. Our KCP is a participant of the CACFP program administered by Bright From the Start with the State of Georgia. We provide meals to children in after-school programs for the provision of nutritious foods that contribute to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of young children. We maintain four kitchens, one in Valdosta, GA, one in Albany, GA, one in Douglas, GA and one in Thomasville, GA, where meals are prepared and then delivered to children in these service areas and their surrounding communities. We operate Monday through Friday of each week. Annually, we serve 450,000 meals and
snacks, which include supper and snacks throughout the school year and may include breakfast, AM snacks, lunch, PM snacks and dinner on school breaks and holidays. All meals must follow the USDA Required Child Meal Patterns.
