This week’s Volunteer Spotlight falls on Hands On Thomas County. This volunteer based organization emphasizes the importance of bringing local citizens together to better the community. Since 2003 HOTC has been connecting community members with volunteer opportunities all over Thomas County.
HOTC regularly teams up with Second Harvest of South Georgia to fight hunger in our community. Not only do they send us numerous volunteers throughout the year but they also host food drives and assist local agencies with distributing food to those in need.
“Second Harvest of South Georgia is such a vital resource to our community,” said Angela Kiminas, Executive Director of HOTC, “feeding those in need is very important and we make it a priority. Second Harvest has become a frequent project site for us because of how easy they make it to volunteer. We can really get a lot of good work done in an organized fashion.”
The services and support provided by HOTC are necessary to beat hunger in our 30 county service area. Second Harvest of South Georgia is a proud partner of Hands On Thomas County and we look forward to a long future of helping our community be a better place.
