In accordance with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Nutrition Services
(FNS) policy memorandum, CACFP12-2018, SFSP05-2018 – Child Nutrition Program Waiver
Request Guidance and Protocol-Revised, May 24, 2018, Second Harvest of South Georgia is seeking a waiver of statutory and/or regulatory Program requirements related to the Summer Food Service Program.
SHSG is submitting this request to extend USDA COVID–19: Child Nutrition Response #56 waiver (dated August 31, 2020) and its previous extension #59 (dated October 9, 2020). Specifically, SHSG requests to waive:
- 7 CFR 225.6(b)(1), the requirement that applications for participation be submitted “by June 15”; and
- 7 CFR 225.6(e)(1) in its entirety.
The waiver of these two regulations will give non-profit sponsors of SFSP partial parity with local School Food Authorities and better enable us to meet the needs of children in need in our area. A full copy of our request for waiver is linked below for public review.
