Second Harvest of South Georgia has a variety of different volunteer opportunities to fit almost everyone! Whether you’d like to roll up your sleeves and break a sweat in our warehouse or you prefer a less hands-on approach, we can find something for you. As a non-profit, we strive to run our organization as efficiently as possible, one way we accomplish that is through volunteer help. We couldn’t accomplish all we do without our dedicated volunteers.
We accept volunteers at our facilities weekdays and some weekends. ALL volunteers must be registered in advance. No walk-ins will be allowed. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old (or in 6th grade). Minors must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Call 229-244-2678 x 1102 or email Volunteer(AT)FeedingSGA.org today to register!
How You Can Help
Volunteer Opportuinities
Product Recovery
Great hands-on volunteer experience for both groups and individual volunteers. You will sort, inspect and package food and groceries donated to Second Harvest of South Georgia. These items are then distributed to those in need in our area through our network of over 400 partner agencies. This volunteer opportunity is not appropriate for those who cannot do moderate lifting (5-35 lbs.) or stand for prolonged periods.

Pantry Box Build
This event caters to large groups, focusing on the assembly of pantry boxes tailored for distribution during extensive disaster relief efforts, as well as supporting family and senior feeding initiatives on a significant scale.
Court-Ordered Community Service
Do you need to complete hours for court-mandated community service? Email our Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected] to get started. Be sure to include in your email that you are seeking court-ordered community service hours, how many hours you need, and the reason for service. Please note that we cannot accommodate those charged/convicted of theft, violent or sexual offenses, or any crimes involving a minor or vulnerable populations.
